Meet Melissa
Melissa Planz, M.A. CCC-SLP
Hello! My name is Melissa Planz and I am the owner and speech language pathologist of Play & Say Pediatric Therapy Inc.
I attended Florida State University and received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education before obtaining my master’s degree in Communication Science & Disorders at University of Central Florida. I have been working with the pediatric population in private practice, as well as in preschools with a variety of communicative disorders over the past few years.

I founded Play & Say Pediatric Therapy because there are so many children in our community in need of speech and language therapy and I am very passionate about helping those who need services despite insurance eligibility requirements or long waitlists.
Outside of work, I love trying new restaurants, going to the beach, watching movies, and spending time with my husband, Joey, my daughter, Ava, and Aussiedoodle, Tito. Spending time with my friends and family is when I am the happiest.

What ages do you provide therapy sessions to?Speech therapy is provided to children ages 1-10.

Where do therapy sessions take place?Your home, preschool/daycare, location of choice, or teletherapy.

How often will my child receive speech therapy?This depends on the child and their needs. However, most speech therapy sessions are 1-2x per week. Time of therapy ranges from 30 to 60 minute sessions, based on clinician recommendation. Therapy sessions are offered Monday through Friday.

Does my child need an evaluation before starting speech therapy?Yes. A current evaluation is required to start speech therapy and develop a plan of care. If your child has an evaluation and plan of care within the last 6 months, we will be able to use this to start therapy.

Does my child need a doctor’s referral to complete the evaluation and begin therapy?No. A doctor’s referral is not necessary to evaluate and begin therapy. However, if wanting a superbill, please follow up with your insurance plan to determine if a doctor’s signature is needed for reimbursement.

Do you take insurance?Play & Say Pediatric Therapy is currently private pay only. This allows us to begin services almost immediately, as well as provide a plan of care that meets the needs of the child without eligibility requirements or limitations insurance companies may place. Superbills may be provided upon request.

How do I pay for services?An invoice will be sent for payment via Simple Practice. The card on file will be billed at the end of service and you will receive a receipt upon completion. All major credit/debit cards are accepted. Cash may also be accepted at the time of service.

How much is an evaluation/treatment session?A full speech and language evaluation is $300. A full report will be provided including informal and formal assessment, clinical observations, and recommendations. Speech therapy sessions are $70 for 30 minutes, $100 for 45 minutes, and $130 for 60 minutes.
